Bucyrus Ohio; The Crawford County Farm Service Agency will be electing a new person to serve on the County Office Committee (COC). Crawford County is divided into 3 Local Administrative Areas (LAA's) and the election this year will involve the voters in Administrative Area -1. LAA -1 will be voting for a new County Committee member to represent their area of the county which consists of Auburn, Cranberry, Lykens, Texas, and Chatfield Townships. Allen Schimpf, Donald Reer, and Sandra Stockmaster are the nominated candidates' for this year's election.
Allen and his wife Becky have four children, Amy, Beth, Jacob and Erin along with three grandchildren. They farm in the Lykens and Chatfield area and have a farm operation of 1,300 acres raising Corn, Soybeans and Wheat. Allen is in a partnership with his brother Gary Shimpf. Allen is currently serving on the COC as the COC Chairperson and has served two terms.
Donald and his wife Rosie farm 450 acres in the Tiro Area. Donald produces Wheat, Corn, Soybeans and Hay on their farm operation each year. Don also produces Cattle and Hogs as part of his operation. Donald and his wife have three sons, Don Jr., Dennis and Daniel. Donald enjoys antique tractors and trucks, going to livestock sales, collection toy tractors, working at the Oak Ridge Festival & Corn Husking Festival and spending time with his grandchildren.
Sandra Stockmaster and her husband Charles live and farm in the New Washington area. The Stockmaster's produce 140 acres of Corn, Wheat and Soybeans on their farm operation annually. They also have a Farrow to Finish hog operation. Sandra is a cook, Religious Education Teacher, President of the Altar/Rosary Society at St. Bernard's School, and a volunteer at the Crisis Hot-Line.
Sandra and her husband have five children, David, Thomas, Diane, Steven and Amy.
The County Committee serves an important role by administering county level procedure, approving county office actions, hearing producer appeals, and they select the County Executive Director (CED). The elected individual will serve a 3-year term and can serve a total of 3 consecutive terms or 9 years, if re-elected. Each year eligible voters receive a ballot to select an individual to serve on the County Committee.
Eligible voters are, people of legal voting age who have an interest in a farm or ranch as either an, individual, the authorized representative of an entity, both spouses when property is owned jointly and spouses in community property States. In addition producer's who are not of legal voting age, but supervises and conducts the farming operations on an entire farm are eligible to vote.
Ballots will be mailed on November 3, 2008 and must be returned or date stamped by close of business December 1, 2008.
